“Your neighbour’s grass is always more green and more beautiful than yours.”

I am often envy to those who have something that I don’t currently have, such as study abroad, higher job position, great income, etc. It is like a toxic positivity for comparing myself to others. I called toxic positivity because it can be a my motivation to develop better as a person but also almost makes me seldom feel grateful for what I truly have.

Having a lot of amazing friends is truly an extraordinary moment. Some have studied abroad by full funded scholarship, some worked in international enterprise or outside Indonesia, some accomplished much money from investments and businesses, and some were trusted for a high job position. I do realize that behind those great achievements, there are a huge efforts that almost never be told to us.

A couple of days ago, I tried to look myself from other’s perspective. I was wondering that if there is another person who wants all I have today. What if that they are currently jealous with my achievements until today?

Maybe some who failed in getting scholarship, or some employees in state owned enterprise with long lasting late promotion, or some entrepreneur affected by covid-19 pandemic. At that time, realizing that all I have are more than enough for me.

I have an amazing journey consisting of a lot of mistakes and easiness. Our means of living is unique, can’t be given to another person, and will always be given in correct time and place. We just have to stay humble and keep good positivity within our mind.

Lets hope I would be able to take international doctoral program by full funded scholarship, get a massive income from both businesses and investments, and accomplish a high position in my occupation.

Amin.
